WE STARTED OUR JOURNEY IN 2019 - IN JUST 4 YEARS WE 'VE PRESENTED OVER 50 EVENTS, PURCHASED AND SECURED THE OUTSIDE OF OUR BUILDING, AND RAISED OVER $295,000*


Our new goal is to raise $40,000 by December 31, 2023, to help us move forward with our capital campaign.

Laughing Matters

As part of Peabody's Come Home for Christmas celebration, the Sunflower Theatre will present Laughing Matters, a mime, juggling, and comedy act. Laughing Matters features Kansas City artists Jay Cady and Leslie Seifert-Cady - theater artists skilled in juggling, mime, magic, storytelling, and improvisation. They have performed in 36 states and 7 foreign countries. Admission is free.

The McPherson Brass Band

The Sunflower Theatre will again welcome the McPherson Brass Band performing seasonal favorites. Concert and desserts are available for a donation to the Sunflower Theatre.

The Switchgrass String Quartet

February 25 3:00 St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 212 East Division, Peabody, KS

Sponsored by the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission.

The Switchgrass String Quartet will perform at the historic St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The quartet will feature original compositions by quartet members including Tallgrass Studies, a work composed for a KCAIC Tallgrass Artist Residency. Admission is free.

The ARISE Ensemble

March 23, 3:00 St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 212 East Division, Peabody, KS

For the last 33 years, the Arise Ensemble has shared its message of hope and peace through stories and Negro spirituals. Founded by civil rights leader and former Wichita School Board member Jo Brown, the choir sees its mission as promoting multiculturalism and unity through harmony. "We consider ourselves ambassadors of goodwill. And we believe in good race relations and human relations, and through our music, we're able to convey that." Arise Ensemble-member Gerald Norwood agrees. "In terms of this medicinal help to secure social values and help people understand the importance of collaboration between all races, all ages." By donation to the Sunflower Theatre.

Peter and the Wolf and Appalachian Spring

 April 21, 3:00 St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 212 E. Division, Peabody, KS Sponsored by the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission

Peter and the Wolf and Appalachian Spring, features an 11-member ensemble comprised mainly of Wichita Symphony musicians. Peter and the Wolf is a beloved classic with narration that introduces the instruments of the orchestra. This project is a collaboration with the Bartlett Arboretum and Wichita State University. Admission is free.
